Stuart Kelly is the Liberal Democrat prospective MP for Birkenhead.
Stuart has been a Councillor for Oxton since 1997.
He works as an assessor for electrical apprentices.
Previously he has worked as an electrician in the local NHS and at Cammell Lairds.
Local health services have been brought to their knees, people’s mortgages and rent have skyrocketed and water companies have been allowed to pump their filthy sewage into our rivers and beaches. All this by a Conservative government more interested in fighting between themselves than standing up for the country
This is your chance to vote for change.
The long national nightmare comprising 4 failed Tory Prime Ministers and 9 years of chaos is coming to a close, this government has to go.
The more votes the Liberal Democrats achieve the more we can influence the future direction of the next Government.
My key priorities for Birkenhead are to
Stop Sewage Dumping
Water companies have pumped sewage into our rivers and seas more than 1 million times over the past three years – time to stop
Standing up for carers
Carers – paid and unpaid, young and old – do a remarkable and important job.
They deserve our support but are far too often forgotten and ignored. The recent PIP clawback demands should be written off
Ending Mental Health Injustice
Mental ill health affects one in four of us. Liberal Democrats are fighting for a fair deal where mental and physical health are treated equally.
We will prioritise early intervention to prevent people from experiencing a mental health crisis ; This means ensuring all young people can access support quickly.
Reform of the Regulators
Ofwat have failed on protecting our rivers from sewage, Ofsted’s single word judgements are unsustainable, Ofgen’s failure to control energy bills has hit household budgets hard.
All these regulators have failed and desperately need reform to protect consumers not protect shareholders.
Joining the single European market
Restoring our links to trade with the Single European Market is essential to ensuring a prosperous trading economy, removing the unnecessary barriers to free trade will bring prices down.
