I have lived and worked in and around the Clatterbridge ward area for the past 40 years and am seeking election to the council for the first time. As a local GP for over 30 years, I know the people, their homes and the wider community very well, though my job was not only about treatment and diagnosis. In equal importance was acting as an advocate for my patients and helping them to navigate and access health, benefits and community services and I would welcome an opportunity to renew elements of this very rewarding role on behalf of local residents. I continue to work part time for the Courts & Tribunal Service adjudicating benefits appeals which has kept me in touch with the problems and economic consequences people are experiencing coming out of the Covid pandemic.
I am a newcomer to local politics having never stood for election previously but I believe this to be no bad thing. Every organisation needs to be renewed with new personnel and fresh ideas on a regular basis and I would willingly take on this role. Going forward needs vision and strategy but there must also be detail underpinning this and this in turn needs careful scrutiny to ensure what works happens. I consider my previous role managing and operating a busy General Practice has given me the skills and experience to equip me for this task.
